Course Overview

Our accounting and finance degree prepares you for professional, managerial, and business careers, equipping you with the practical and analytical skills employers value. You’ll study core areas including financial reporting, managerial accounting, audit and assurance, taxation, law, and corporate finance.

Graduates may receive exemptions from key professional bodies such as the Institute of Financial Accountants, ACCA, and CIMA.

The foundation year introduces essential accounting and financial management concepts and prepares you for university-level study.

This degree also develops transferable skills relevant to many career paths, including entrepreneurship. You’ll gain the knowledge to address key questions such as how to enhance your career prospects, manage financial requirements in business, and understand the principles that drive financial impact.

Assessment

Written Assessment: 240 words reflective essay.

OPT Requirements: N/A 

Numeracy test: Y (Min 9 with strong RT)

Assessment Method:

Throughout the course, you’ll complete informal formative assessments that help you build confidence and prepare for formal tasks. These do not count towards your final grade but provide useful feedback, and students who engage with them typically progress more effectively.

Formal summative assessments take place at the end of each module and may include exams, reports, portfolios, essays, or presentations. These contribute to your final module mark.

Assessment methods are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student input or feedback from an External Examiner – an independent academic appointed by Canterbury Christ Church University to ensure high academic standards.

Entry Requirements

Applicants Must be Aged 18+ and:

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification (60 credits or 80 UCAS points).
  • Have five GCSEs at grade 4/C or equivalent.
  • Complete an interview assessing listening, speaking, numeracy, and writing skills.

Applicants Aged 21+: 

  • We also welcome applicants aged 21+ who do not meet the standard requirements but can show commitment to the subject and relevant academic, professional, or vocational experience. An interview assessing listening, speaking, and writing is required.
