Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Health, Wellbeing and Social Care with Foundation Year provides a solid introduction to the healthcare sector and develops the academic skills needed for degree-level study. Your Foundation Year builds essential knowledge in health and social care, preparing you for the rest of the course.
Over the following three years, you will explore key topics such as behavioural influences on health, effective care delivery, and sector management. Teaching is supported by experienced lecturers who bring valuable industry insight.
By graduation, you will have the skills, practical experience, and sector understanding needed to begin a successful career in health and social care.

Assessment

Written Assessment: 350 words reflective essay.

OPT Requirements: B1 

OPT Exemptions

  • Qualifications must be L3 or above
  • Subject cannot be Maths, Foreign Language, Adult Numeracy/Literacy, or ESOL

 

Assessments throughout the course 

Assessment is designed to develop the full range of knowledge and skills needed in health and social care. Methods include essays, reports, presentations, debates, group projects, and, where possible, real-life simulations.

You will research key topics, apply evidence-based reasoning, and present structured arguments through written and practical tasks. Group work will be assessed through collaborative output and peer review.

Entry Requirements

Applicants Must be Aged 18+ and:

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification (60 credits or 80 UCAS points)
  • Have five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English (or equivalent)
  • Complete an interview assessing listening, speaking, and writing skills

Applicants Aged 21+: 

  • We welcome applicants with relevant academic, professional, or vocational experience who can demonstrate commitment to the course. An interview is also required.
