OPT Exemptions
GCSE English Language at Grade c/4 or above
Cambridge international Level1/Level2 Certificate in First Language at grade4/C or above.
Functional skills in English at Level 2(must have passed all 3 components) reading, writing and listening.
Assessments throughout the course
Throughout the course, you will complete formative assessments. These are practice tasks that help you learn and prepare for your formal assessments. They don’t count toward your final grade, but you’ll receive feedback to help you improve. Students who skip these often find it harder to progress, especially in the Foundation Year.
At the end of each module, you will complete summative assessments, such as exams, essays, reports, portfolios, or presentations. These assessments do count toward your final mark.
Assessment methods are reviewed every year and may change based on student feedback, developments in the subject, or advice from an External Examiner—an independent academic who checks that the course meets the required standards.
